What is the Comfort Zone?

The individual products that comprise this "Cow Comfort" system include: the Y2K free stall from Artex Fabricators, Ltd. and the Pasture Mat® and Poly Pillow® from Promat, Ltd. Together, this system creates the ideal dairy cow environment where they spend more time lying down producing milk and less time standing or walking around aimlessly.

After careful study of the Promat time lapse video of stall occupation, Artex developed the Y2K stall. With increased lunge space and bed length, it allows greater freedom of movement for the cows when standing up, considering that a cow uses 9 to 10 feet in length when getting up.

In addition, Artex has removed the horizontal rail because tests have proven that the lower rail limits forward lunge space. Along with the open front stall, Artex has raised the neck-rail up from 46" to 50".

The additional 4 inches of height does not impede the cow when she walks into the stall, thus she stands in the stall with all four feet. She gets off the concrete the second she enters the stall. Cows do not stand half-in and half-out of the stall - this will ensure the cows will spend less time on the concrete decreasing foot problems! Once in the stall, the cow enjoys the productive benefits of the Pasture Mat® and Poly Pillow® .
